Idleholt Terms of Service
Last updated: October 9, 2026
About these terms
These terms cover your use of Idleholt, the game at idleholt.com, run by Idleholt ("we", "us"). By creating an account or playing, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
The game
Idleholt is an idle woodland skilling game that you play in your web browser. It is free to play. Today there are no real-money purchases; the coins in the game have no value outside it.
We reserve the right to add optional paid features later. Before any paid feature is offered, we will update the payment section of our Privacy Policy.
Idleholt is still being developed. Features, balance, and content may change. We may reset players' progress during development, and will give notice where possible.
Your account
- You need an account to play. You sign in with a link sent to your email address, or with Google if that option is shown.
- Keep access to your email account secure: anyone who can open your sign-in emails can sign in as you.
- You must be 13 or older to play. If we learn that a child under 13 has an account, we will delete it.
- One account per person. Do not sell or trade accounts.
Display names
You choose a display name the first time you sign in. Other players see it in Holtgrove, in chat, and on the hiscores. The game enforces these rules:
- 3 to 12 characters: letters, numbers, spaces, or underscores, with at least one letter.
- Names must be unique (ignoring upper and lower case).
- Names that contain blocked words, or that pose as staff (such as "admin", "moderator", "system", or "Idleholt"), are refused.
- A name cannot be changed once chosen.
Chat
Holtgrove has a public chat that everyone online can read. Chat is not saved. The game automatically:
- limits each message to 80 characters and shortens longer ones;
- allows one message or emote every 2 seconds;
- removes control characters and characters that change text direction;
- replaces words that match its word filter with asterisks.
The filter is basic and will miss things. You are responsible for what you say. In chat, and anywhere else in the game, do not:
- harass, threaten, or post hateful content about anyone;
- share anyone else's personal information;
- spam;
- pretend to be someone else.
To report a player, email Idleholt ([email protected]). Moderation is best-effort.
Fair play and saves
- Your progress is saved to your account. The server checks each save: it refuses saves that are impossible (for example, more coins than the game allows, or an axe above your level).
- Experience above what the time since your last save could have earned is not accepted. The extra is removed, and a record of it is kept with your account.
- The hiscores show only experience the server has accepted.
- Each account can bring one save from before accounts existed online, once.
- "Reset save" in the game replaces your progress with a fresh start, including the copy on our servers. It cannot be undone.
- Do not edit saves, tamper with the game or its servers, or use bots, scripts, or other automation beyond normal play.
The game's content
Idleholt owns the code and original art. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to play Idleholt.
You give us a limited license to use your display name and chat messages, only as needed to run the game: for example, to show your name on the hiscores and to pass your messages to other players.
The game uses the Silkscreen font, which remains under the SIL Open Font License.
Suspending or closing accounts
We may suspend or close an account for cheating, chat abuse, or breaking these terms. Where practical, we will warn you first. If we close an account, its data is handled under the deletion policy in our Privacy Policy.
You can stop playing at any time. To have your account deleted, email Idleholt ([email protected]). We handle deletion requests by hand within 30 days.
No warranty
Idleholt is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that the game will be available at any particular time, and your progress can be lost.
Limits on liability
Idleholt is a free service. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything to do with the game is $0, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Bexar County, Texas.
If you have a problem with Idleholt, please contact us first at Idleholt ([email protected]) so we can try to resolve it informally. If that does not work, the dispute can go to the courts above. Small-claims court remains available for claims that qualify.
Other terms
- Severability: if any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- Entire agreement: these terms are the whole agreement between you and us about Idleholt.
- Assignment: we may transfer these terms to a successor who takes over Idleholt. You may not transfer your account.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, we will update this page and the date at the top.
